General
Q. How do I create an account?
Click “Join free” in the top navigation bar, fill in your username, email address, and password, and confirm your email via the link we send you. That’s it — you’re in.
Q. I didn’t receive my confirmation email. What do I do?
First, check your spam or promotions folder. If it’s not there after 10–15 minutes, contact us at chemenggcalc@gmail.com and we’ll help you manually verify your account.
Q. I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Click “Log in” → “Forgot password?” and enter your registered email address. You’ll receive a password reset link within a few minutes.
Q. Can I change my username later?
Username changes aren’t available by default once your profile is active, since other members may already reference or reply to you by that name. If you have a serious reason to change it (e.g., privacy concern), contact us directly.
Q. Can I delete my account?
Yes. Email us at chemenggcalc@gmail.com requesting account deletion. Note that your public posts may remain visible (anonymized) to preserve the usefulness of existing discussion threads, unless you specifically request their removal too. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Using the Forum
Q. How do I ask a question?
Log in, choose the most relevant category (e.g., Heat Transfer & Exchangers), click “New Topic,” and write a clear, specific title and description. The more context and detail you give, the better the answers you’ll get.
Q. Which category should I post in?
Pick the category that matches the core subject of your question. If you’re unsure, post in General Discussion — a moderator can move it to the right place if needed.
Q. How do I reply to a topic?
Open the topic and scroll to the reply box at the bottom, or use “Quick Reply.” You can also quote a specific part of someone’s post to respond directly to it.
Q. What is the reputation/points system?
Members earn points for contributing — posting helpful replies, having your answer marked “best answer,” and general participation. It’s a simple way to recognize active, helpful members of the community.
Q. Can I edit or delete my own post?
Yes, for a limited time window after posting (shown on the post itself). After that window closes, contact a moderator if you need a correction made.
Q. Can I upload images or files?
Yes — most categories support image uploads (e.g., screenshots of error messages, simple diagrams). Avoid uploading copyrighted material such as textbook scans or paid software outputs you don’t have rights to share.
Q. How do I search for existing discussions?
Use the search bar at the top of the forum. Searching before posting is strongly encouraged — your question may already be answered.
Q. Can I message another member privately?
If private messaging is enabled, you can message other members directly from their profile page. Please keep private messages respectful and on-topic — the same rules apply as in public posts.
Community & Moderation
Q. What are the forum rules?
All members agree to follow our Forum Rules & Guidelines when they join — covering respect, on-topic posting, honesty, and safety. You can read the short version on the Forum Rules page.
Q. Can I get banned?
Yes, if you seriously or repeatedly violate the Forum Rules — for example, harassment, spam, plagiarism, or sharing illegal/unsafe content. Most violations follow a progressive process (warning → temporary suspension → permanent ban), but severe violations can result in an immediate permanent ban. Full details are in the Forum Rules page.
Q. How do I report a post or a member?
Use the “Report” button available on each post. This sends it directly to our moderation team for review — please don’t engage publicly with content you’re reporting.
Q. I think a moderation decision was unfair. What can I do?
Email us at chemenggcalc@gmail.com explaining the situation calmly. We review appeals, though moderation decisions are generally final, especially for serious violations.
Privacy & Safety
Q. Is my personal data safe?
We take data protection seriously and follow practices aligned with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act) and, where relevant, GDPR. Passwords are stored encrypted, and we use security tools to protect the site from unauthorized access. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Q. Who can see my profile and posts?
Your username, profile picture, bio, and any public posts are visible to all visitors, since this is a public discussion forum. Avoid posting sensitive personal or confidential professional information.
Q. Does the forum use cookies or tracking?
Yes — for essential functions like keeping you logged in, plus analytics and (where applicable) advertising. You can read exactly what’s used in our Privacy Policy under “Cookies and Tracking Technologies.”
Q. Will I receive marketing emails?
We may send occasional digest or community update emails, but only if you haven’t opted out. Transactional emails (password resets, reply notifications) are separate and can usually be adjusted in your notification settings.
